2009 All-State Girls Soccer First Team

FORWARDS
 

  • Courtney Hurt Grissom/6A Soph. ODP player credited with 19 goals and 29 assists
     

  • Challey Legg St. Paul’s/5A Sr. 6A MVP tallied 22 of her 90 career goals this year
     

  • Amanda Morris Randolph School/3A Sr. Led team to its first title with her 15 goals and 18 assists
     

  • Paloma Perez McGill-Toolen/6A Sr. Numbers (41 goals, 35 assists) stack up with anyone’s
     

  • Annalika Steyn Spain Park/6A Soph. Some coaches already feel she will be a college star
     

MIDFIELDERS
 

  • Tori Ball St. Paul’s/5A Jr. AHSAA North-South pick had 28 goals and 17 assists
     

  • Megan Collins Montgomery Acad./3A Soph. She has 69 assists over the past two years
     

  • Alissa Fisher Grissom/6A Sr. Dominates (32 goals, 23 assists) everywhere she roams
     

  • Carson Scott Mountain Brook/6A Sr. Team captain and four-year starter had 20 assists
     

  • Maria Peters Daphne/6A Jr. 120 goals in three years with 41 assists this year

  • Elizabeth Abernathy Vestavia Hills/6A Jr. Never left the field during the season
     

  • Kathryn Allison Bob Jones/6A Sr. Was not beaten for a goal all season
     

  • Katie Butler Mars Hill/2A Sr. Her coach said she was the difference in half their wins
     

  • Emily Hoffman Spain Park/6A Sr. Leader of a back line that surrendered 15 goals all year
     

  • Mary Alice Reilly Altamont/3A Sr. Senior captain saw her defense give up just nine goals
     

GOALKEEPERS

  • Lauren Arnold Spain Park/6A Jr. Spain Park wouldn’t have won it all without her instincts
     

  • Britt Williams Altamont/3A Sr. Posted 11 shutouts in the 17 games she played

 

2009 All-State Girls Soccer Second Team

FORWARDS

  • Sally Adams Decatur/6A Jr. North-South pick scored 32 goals in a tough section
     

  • Kaitlin Bachmeyer Randolph School/3A Jr. Scored 30 goals for a 20-1-1 state title team
     

  • Sarah Phillips Carroll/Ozark/5A 8th Hard not to notice a 45-goal season at her age
     

  • Betsy Stewart Indian Springs/3A Sr. Made honorable mention All-State last season
     

  • Christen Sims Bob Jones/6A Sr. Scored 16 goals on 58 shots; signed with W. Kentucky
     

MIDFIELDERS

  • Carlye Bice Guntersville/4A Jr. ODP player led her team with 30 goals this year
     

  • Kelsey Cain Jacksonville/4A Soph. Another ODP talent with 18 goals and 14 assists
     

  • Georgia Gamble Decatur/6A Sr. Team’s record with her on varsity has been 83-30-10
     

  • Courtney Harlan McGill-Toolen/6A Soph. Scored 36 goals and added 43 assists for runner-up team
     

  • Lindsey Sillers Briarwood Christian/5A Sr. Bama signee can win the mental and physical game
     

DEFENDERS

  • Abby Carr Spain Park/6A Sr. Versatile athlete neutralized top strikers all year long
     

  • Margaret Ellen Crawford Mountain Brook/6A Jr. “An absolute beast in the back,” said her coach
     

  • Sydney Keller Grissom/6A Fr. Plays beyond her years marking the other team’s best
     

  • Nonie Wilson Bob Jones/6A Jr. Good ball winner with wheels and can get physical
     

  • Lakken Wood Jacksonville/4A Soph. Her coach called her a “ball-tracking destroyer”

  • Shanna Brooks Oak Mountain/6A Jr. Better than second team, but this is a tough crowd
     

  • Lauren Kelly Grissom/6A Sr. 22 shutouts and only gave up nine goals all season
