Pick
6
Contest Results
There were lots of
entries this year.
And with all of the
semi-final favorite
teams advancing to
the finals you would
expect that there
would be a lot of
people with a chance
of getting all six
picks correct.

But only one person
submitted a perfect
entry. That person
was Nate Nicholas of
UMS Wright. It
didn’t hurt that
Nate picked his own
team to win the 4A
Boys championship
since that was the
pick that tripped up
a lot of the
contestants who came
close.
Here are the
Pick 6 Contest

Mission Statement
The mission of the Alabama High School Soccer
Coaches Association is to foster the game of high
school soccer and to provide high school soccer
coaches and student athletes
the best opportunities for success and to give those
student athletes and coaches a voice in the
Alabama High School Athletic Association.
Vision
To promote high school soccer while
supporting the highest possible level of soccer in
Alabama.
Organizing Committee
(listed alphabetically) –
Joe Carter, Mike Fricke, Ken Gamble, Mac Matthews,
Steve Morisani, Mike Pline, and Joe Webb. The
first meeting of the Alabama High School Soccer
Coaches Association was Saturday January 5th in
Prattville, Alabama. Prattville was chosen for its
central location. A place and date for future
meetings will be announced
soon.
Membership
Open to all high school coaches.
We need a small membership fee. This will help
cover the costs of the website and start-up costs
and should be small
and probably cover a two year period initially. $20
is the initial suggested amount.
Future Issues
-
Provide and serve notice of coaching education
opportunities for Alabama High School coaches.
-
Put on coaching clinics and licensing courses
for high school coaches.
-
Work with AHSAA to provide the fairest possible
playoff format.
-
Work with the NSCAA (largest coaching
organization in US).
-
Provide an annual spring meeting for the
association.
-
Membership – allow
all coaches to join?
-
Organizational meeting – when, where, etc.
-
Become involved with AHSADCA and help with the
annual North vs. South All-star game held in
conjunction with All-star Week.
-
Help coordinate the weekly High School Soccer Coaches Poll
in conjunction with Eurosport Scoreboard.
-
Provide a website as a means of communication
and education among Alabama's high school soccer
coaches. Include a place where coaches can
request games and provide votes on current
issues.
-
Help select an all-District, All-South (and
North), or All State team.
-
Providing end-of-season Awards and
Acknowledgements Banquet with annual Alabama Mr.
& Mrs. Soccer awards. Also recognize coaches
and referees of the year awards.
-
Recommend re-writing the tie-breaker rules for
the state playoffs for clarification
-
Other Issues
Possible Goals:
-
Host a coaching clinic for high school coaches in
conjunction with the AHSAA High School Final Four in
Huntsville allowing professional development
credit for coaches while also allowing viewing of
Final Four games.
- Lobby for
membership-sponsored changes to our sport within the
framework of the AHSAA.
-
Provide a single voice for soccer within AHSAA and
provide experience and guidance in soccer related issues.
-
"Grow" the sport in ALL areas of Alabama with
special interest in those rural areas where soccer
growth has lagged.
-
Provide an Alabama Soccer Hall of Fame with
recognition for outstanding coaches, players,
officials, and contributors.
-
Host a membership
meeting in conjunction with the annual NSCAA
national convention.
- Vote and select a
"Team of the Week" each week during the season.
-
Other goals to be added.
